The World health Organization in 2002 published a report 'Acupuncture: Review and Analysis of Reports on Controlled Clinical Trials.' In this report it listed 28 symptoms and conditions for which acupuncture has been shown to be an effective treatment through controlled trials. It also listed 30 other symptoms and conditions which the therapeutic effect of accupuncture has been shown but which further evidence is needed. With recently published research and further planned trials this list will undoubtedly need updating.
